Welcome to the Not-So-Scary Estuary at San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center!

Kids are encouraged to come in costume and enter the costume contest. Crawl through a giant spider web. Families will enjoy trick-or-treating along the Haunted Hike Nature Trail, with views of the salt marsh and “spirited clues” to nocturnal inhabitants that live in the lagoon.

Meet live animals, including bats and owls, in special presentations designed to help kids realize that some animals we may not know as well aren’t really so scary after all!

Family Discovery Days at San Elijo reveals the beauty and wonder of wetlands to children of all ages and their families. This Halloween, the nature center will be transformed into a fall celebration of all things nocturnal and not-so-scary, with a whole lot of fun. Always free, Not-So-Scary Family Discovery Days returns to spirit North County at San Elijo Lagoon October 3-4, 2015.
